Cute and flexible January 6, 2009 Julio P I bought this for my 18 month old who loves music. The music it came with was pretty bad but it lets you load it with your own songs and doesn't require you to keep what it shipped with. There is a cute cover that comes with it but my daughter didn't like it at all. It doesn't hold much music but enough. The music can be grouped in 4 categories (Play, sounds, soothing and favorites). It seems pretty durable so far. I was concerned that the software you had to install in order to load music would be obnoxious and spammy but it is really just designed to accommodate their 4 category format and it permits you to keep some songs in a folder on your computer and load on the device only what you want or what fits.
What a great idea! December 31, 2008 Rose Alexis (Michigan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased this for our 15-month old, and he just loves it. It holds up well to toddler use. Having been dropped repeatedly, it still works as well as the day we opened it. There are several categories of music on the MP3 player, and you can add music to the category you'd like to, either from an mp3 download, or from a CD. There are a lot of song choices already programmed onto the player, most of which are familiar children's songs (such as "The wheels on the bus" or "If you're happy and you know it,"). We used the software to program additional music. It is simple to understand and easy to navigate. You can add or delete songs at will, or change the category you'd like them to play in. You can also add baby's pictures to the computer playlist, if you choose. It would be even cooler if these images could be displayed on the mp3 player...maybe in the future. :) The record feature lets you record baby's voice, your own, or even a sibling singing baby a song...whatever you'd like. The sound, however, can be a bit muffled. Fortunately, deleting it via the software playlist, if it is not of high enough quality, is more than easy enough to do. The pajamas cover buttons you may not want baby pushing, if you are using this item in the crib. We highly recommend this item. It's a great idea, a lot of fun for baby, and it's a great way to encourage the love of music for the little ones in the house.
Does not have Mac Software December 29, 2008 Bugbitt (Atlanta Georgia) We received this item as a gift and were excited to put our baby's favorite (or hopefully favorite to be) music on it. We liked the idea of hanging it in the crib and then as she grew she could tote it around and push the buttons herself. We could also change the music as she grew from Baby Einstein to Laurie Berkner to whatever comes after that. We opened it and played with the pre-recorded music, of which most is pretty good. We then decided to open the software and found that it didn't work on a Mac. We do not own a PC and now have no way to put any new music on the player. We had thrown away the box and didn't get a gift receipt with it anyway and so couldn't return. Just be aware if you purchase this you have to have a PC to run the software. It doesn't say this anywhere in the description of the product.
Do not buy. November 29, 2008 Michael Von Kirchmeyer 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased two of these MP3 players, one for my infant son, and another for my 3 year old son. Both of them were handled by adults so neither was exposed to "toddler handling". At first they were very nice, one was put in my infants crib so he could go to sleep to Baby Einstein, the other one was kept on a shelf in my toddlers room out of reach unless it was in use. Neither player lasted more than a month. The one in the crib stopped working after 1 week, and the one for my toddler lasted almost a full month before it too stopped playing. Unfortunately I purchased both at Toys R Us which has a very un-friendly return policy so they ended up in the trash as $100 wasted. Definitly avoid purchasing these, I will most likely just buy 2 1GB MP3 players and finding a better solution that I know wont break so quickly.
Both our baby and toddler love this MP3 player! November 22, 2008 J. Tucker We bought this for our first child and thought we'd pass it along to our second child. Well, it's too much of a favorite to pass along. Our toddler loves being able to play his favorite songs as well as listening to messages we record for him on his MP3 player. It comes in especially handy when my husband has to travel since my husband always records a special message for my son. Our second son (8 months) has his own and loves to watch the lights and play the music. I bought both MP3 players at Babies R Us for about $40 each. I also bought one for my friend's child through toysrus.com for a cheaper price as well.
