Product Description The Soothing Motion Glider Seat takes a close second place to Mom's arms. The seat glides in two directions in a steady motion reminiscent of a parent's cradled arms. The seat is multi-position, laying flat for sleeping babies or sitting partially upright position for playing or feeding. Soft and comfortable, it's covered in the coziest of fabrics and includes a canopy. Plus, parents can comfort their baby with ten soothing tunes. A must-have for newborns.
Amazon.com Baby's crib may look little and adorable to an adult, but to a tiny newborn, it can seem vast and frightening. Plus, the crib offers none of the motion that baby is used to from his previous post in mom's belly. The Soothing Motions glider mimics baby's former environment a little more closely than the cold, empty crib. Shaped more like a cradle than many of the competing infant seats with motion, this glider nestles baby deeply into the plush seat. Extra padding around the head, back, and sides provides additional support and a detachable infant insert gives baby's head even more firm cushioning. To meet the needs of even the fussiest baby, this glider offers gentle rocking in two directionsfrom front to back and from side to side.
| However, it is the rocking feature that is certain to give mom's tired arms a break and to help soothe baby into a quiet state so he can drift off into slumber. To meet the needs of even the fussiest baby, this glider offers gentle rocking in two directionsfrom front to back and from side to sideand at speeds ranging from gentle to energetic. The two-position seat reclines to an almost-flat position for newborns or preemies lacking head support and for older babies who are ready to sleep. The seat adjusts to a more upright position for babies who are alert and enjoying the gliding motion. For safety, baby is strapped in with a three-point harness that is wide and soft so it gently contains baby without binding. Parents can choose to turn on accompanying music while baby rocks to either promote sleep or enhance baby's auditory senses. The glider plays eight soothing lullabies for babies preparing to snooze or eight more upbeat tunes for those who are wide awake. For gross motor skill development, a padded toy bar dangles a little plush bunny and bear for older babies to bat around. Parents can remove the toy bar in a jiffy to lift baby from the seat. The Soothing Motions glider has a 360-degree rotating seat so parents can turn baby to face them as they move about a room. For babies experiencing separation anxiety, this feature reduces a great deal of fussing that can be so stressful for parents. And, suppose baby does fall asleep in the glider and needs to be moved out of a high-traffic area to continue his nap. Comfortable handles at the head and foot of the glider, hidden beneath the built-in dust ruffle, make it easy for mom or dad to safely lift baby and glider and carry them to another room. The glider's seat pad is machine-washable so the expected baby messesspit-up milk and diaper leaks--are easily cleaned up. This glider requires four "D" batteries for operation and, sadly, does not come with a plug. Parents will need to have plenty of extra batteries stashed away so as not to be left high and dry with a fussy baby and a motionless glider. The Soothing Motions seat holds babies from newborn size up to 25 pounds. --Cristina Vaamonde

Too slow to sooth baby November 20, 2008 New Mom in the City (New York) This product is not versatile nor effective enough for me to recommend it. We got it as a gift and I tried using it every day for about two weeks and my baby would just look at me thinking "are you crazy mom!? there is NO way I will sit still in this!" She would just squirm around trying to get out. It is much too slow to do anything for a baby and is bulky and ugly and heavy as well! I got a lot more use out of the Baby Bjorn Sitter which is a little more money but my baby likes it, sits in it for at least 10 minutes (that is a lot for her!) and it folds flat and does not require batteries.
Best thing ever for newborn!!!! November 10, 2008 lynne (phoenix, az) I have a colic infant with reflux. This has been my saving grace. He hates the basic swing, papasan swing, and bouncer. He LOVES the gliding motion, and only lets me put him down in this machine. I highly recommend getting the boppy noggin head rest to lay in the inside of the glider. It really keeps them in place, and helps to keep their head from getting flat. You won't be diappointed.
kinda loud November 4, 2008 Kristen Inskeep this is a nice chair but it is loud when it is on. Its heavy to move between rooms. I bought this for my Second baby so I could keep her up high and out of the way of the crazy 2 year old. Great for small places. The fabric is kinda scratchy not as soft as I would like so I just put a blanket over it.
Infant seat/bouncer October 24, 2008 Stacy Boulan (Abingdon, Md) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the looks of this seat, but the only thing that holds the seat to the base is 2- 1" screws. My fear is that the weight of the base will come sdisconnected from the seat while carrying the seat with the baby in it, possing a fall/trip/injury risk.
Great for Sleeping September 7, 2008 S. F. Wilson (MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought one of these soothers for my sister's baby because it is the most helpful little chair to new moms. I have one that my 3 month old still sleeps in next to our bed, and has been using since she was 3 weeks old. She never spits up, and falls asleep so fast with the slow rocking movement. Its moveable and comfortable for the baby, not too loud, it actually puts me to sleep too! If your little one is having trouble sleeping, or spitting up...you really should try this out!
